Istanbul: transport 12.06.2019
Public transport is very interesting in Istanbul. There are many different types, not always convenient, but it was great experience.
Like in Europe the city started to introduce a dedicated bicycle road, but it seems they forgot to teach people how to use it. Pedestrians simply walk on it like the road is just a pavement area. A rare bicyclist suffers to get through the crowd a lot.
Trams are very convenient. They cover the areas which has no metro yet.
The signs are so cool. Especially the one against leg spreading. Sometimes I feel we miss it a lot in Moscow.
On Istiklal you can find nostalgic trams! Looks so cozy. Though it's mostly for tourist attraction.
Passengers are extremely polite. If someone sitting sees a pregnant woman or someone senior, he (or she) will immediately offer the seat without any pause. Just right away. Almost the same will happen for young woman, but not every time.
They have trash cans in metro! Every time I see it, I'm so excited. It's also so clean over there. Especially in comparison to New York.
Just a few years ago the only way to get from European part to Asian was a ferry. Nowadays they have a tunnel right on the Bosphorus bottom. So you need much less time for the connection. Trains are so new.
Metro also keeps up with everything else. It is developed so fast and is very convenient as well.
Just look how cool are passages between stations!
When you're tired from metro and trams, there is a funicular for you. Much better than going up by a ladder to Taksim square.
Also they have ferries and buses, but I guess that's already enough for today (:
