Istanbul 08.06.2019
A while ago I already was in Istanbul. However it was just a short connection between flight (for about 11 hours) which definitely isn't enough for this city. So here I am again to explore it more.
The first time you would be impressed with are huge lines to almost every tourist attraction. There's a life-hack: it is possible to buy Istanbul museum card just one time and visit places with it. The price would be paid off just with top 3 places or so. You can even buy it in some non-so-popular place to save time in line. However some attractions simply do not accept it and you have to struggle.
Carpets (:
It was a bit hotter than it's needed for comfortable walk. Also there were a lot of water around. Unfortunately it's not good for swimming.
A ferry. Istanbul has so many different pubic transport types: metro (2 types), trams, buses, ferries. Well, I better write a separate post about it.
June 2019 was a month of Istanbul mayor re-election. The first attempt was annulled by a very biased reason. So I accidentally stopped by on two agitation events: for pro-government and opposition candidates. Guess which is which (:
These are public mini-buses. Those were removed from Moscow a while ago. I miss it a lot (:
There are so many cats in Istanbul. There will be more photos.
Just some streets.
I was surprised Turks are open to experiment with mosques architecture. Here's Sakirin mosque in modern style with transparent walls. Looks very cool and pretty. We need more stuff like this.
There's a cemetery nearby. Looks unusual. Well, after a kazakh one not that unusual (:
There are so many places you can buy fresh vegetables and fruits. You won't starve to death here.
After the long day there's amazing place to relax: beautiful seafront, one of the best I've seen so far. Just in front of Maiden's Tower. There are almost no tourists here. Just locals.
