I couldn’t skip Hollywood in my route. It attracts the people who dreams to become famous from all over the world. Though I was here only as a tourist. It’s also very famous tourist direction, therefore it’s crowded with tourists. From the other side I survived it (:

In my imagination Walk of stars had to be something more spectacular, though it's just an alley with slabs on the sidewalk. Almost anyone can have a star here. You just need to have 5 year experience in show business and someone of your fans have to write to academy in Hollywood a petition to make a star for you. Then academicians have to approve it (there is a limit for 24 persons per year though) and then the person who wish a star has to pay 30000$ (:
So yes, it's not free. Fortunately it's a one time payment, not annual. Anyway, some stars deny to pay and there is no slab for them. E.g. you won't find a star for Mel Gibson here. He was a bit greedy about it (: However there are other start even for fictional characters (Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and others). These stars were paid by film studios.

You can skip the famous Chinese cinema (and watch the movie in there). It’s famous for its history and famous actors autographs in front of it:

There is Dolby Theater pretty close to it. Oscar ceremony takes place exactly in this building. It’s forbidden for tourists to take pictures inside, but you can attend the excursion. Looks really cool. For every ceremony the building is completely changed from the inside (the scene, banquet hall, where they hold a party for winners). It costs up to 35 millions every year. Though the advertising brings more than 120. So it’s a nice profit.

There is Madame Tussaud's museum:

It’s better to buy Citypass (it’s not an advert but as a friendly advice to save some money (: ). It’s just a combined ticket for all the places with discount about 30-50%. And you can skip all the lines. There is a special Citypass in NYC, btw. Really saves time and money.
