Bremen 1 18.09.2012
So, you though I'm tired of blog and there will be now new posts? Not in this life =)
There was some unexpected overload at work, so I managed to find a minute to write something just now. Though tomorrow doesn't look like an easy day either.
At weekend I was in a nice German city Bremen. Despite weather forecast I caught really a nice sunny weather. However everything can't be perfect. So Green Peace decided to make an environment friendly day and no cars were allowed in city centre. U-bahn (subway) is still not built here (may be it's not even planned, I have no idea about the city improvements schedule).
The town city (in Germany city is already over 150 thousand people, and here in Bremen there are 650k citizens) is built in already so native German style.
Bremen is famous by Bremen musicians (though according to fairy tail they didn’t reach the city), and russian version of the story is not known in Germany. Especially if you take in account that there was no king in Bremen. Ever. It was a democratic city :)
You can meet The Bremen Town Musicians in unexpected places. Or just their footprints sometime.
Even hatches are made with reference to Bremen musicians. You can drop a coin there and it will play dog’s bark or roost sound for you. Cat with donkey sounds are also available. The voice is picked by random.
Another famous city representatives are Bremen lazybones. They were so lazy to do their job, so they were constantly inventing some tools to decrease amount of manual work.
Even the famous Robinson Crusoe lived in Bremen. His house survived till our days:
It is really nice in Bremen: beautiful houses, a lot of quite interesting statues and sculptures in unexpected places. Only for extremely attentive tourists:
Streets in the central part are extremely narrow (in the rest part of Bremen it is much better) :
Even soviet celebrities like this nice city. Our "beloved" Mikhail Gorbachev celebrated here his 70 anniversary in Bremen, in cat cafe =)
However most of these buildings are not that old, as it seems to be. They were almost completely demolished during WWII. Often there was no even basement left after bombing. Germans made a huge amount work to restore it.
